hello -- and DEOMI
Submitted: 2002-10-23 15:54:12.000 (post #: 194)

Hi Grethe, My name is Lori and I am currently in the Army Reserves. I have 25 years of military service -- 10 active duty in the Air Force. A few years ago, I went to DEOMI (Defense Equal Opportunity Institute) where they gave us a briefing on homosexuality in the military and the regulations pertaining to DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL. (In my humble opinion another way to say be dishonest and lie.) The course has many holes in it because the institution (Department of Defense) is messed up. I admire that you took the path of most resistance by being honest. It took courage. I think the path of most resistance also facilitates positive change. I’ve experienced discrimination in the Air Force. I’m planning on giving a briefing at Hollins University in a few weeks about women in the military and gays and lesbians in the military. Do you have any advice? Warmly, Lori
