Types of Care Facilities

 

Adult Family Homes- These are residential homes licensed to care for up to six non-related residents.   They provide room, board, laundry, necessary supervision, and necessary help with activities of daily living, personal care, and social services. RCW 70.128.

 

Residential Care Facilities-  They offer personal care, such as help with washing, dressing, going to toilet and taking medication. Nursing - they provide personal care and also have qualified nurses on duty at all times. They can be suitable for people who require frequent medical attention.

 

Nursing Homes- A nursing home is a place for people who don’t need to be in a hospital but can’t be cared for at home.  Most nursing homes have nursing aides and skilled nurses on hand 24 hours a day. Some nursing homes are set up like a hospital. The staff provides medical care, as well as physical, speech and occupational therapy.

 

Mexico Care Facilities- The trend in Mexico is to follow the American style of eldercare where expatriates can find high levels of medical attention and support. The quality of care in memory care residences in Mexico, that are catering to foreigners, is on-par with the level of care quality provided in facilities abroad.
